Pizzas are the most popular pizza toppons among millennials, according to a new study.
Pizza toppings are the least popular pizza topping among older millennials, but millennials who are older and more educated are still more likely to eat pizza, according the survey from consumer research firm GfK.
Millennials were also more likely than other age groups to buy pizza at Papa John’s, Wendy’s, and KFC.
“The majority of millennials (60 percent) buy pizza as their most favorite pizza topping, while only 25 percent of the older group and 19 percent of college grads bought pizza as the top choice,” said GfL’s senior vice president of global business development, Karen Dufour.
A majority of young adults also said they buy pizza for their kids.
For instance, millennials were more likely (59 percent) to say they buy pizzas for their own children, while the number for college grad kids was higher (57 percent).
The survey also found that millennials are more likely — by a 50-point margin — to be satisfied with their pizza than other consumers.
The pizza topping that is most popular among millennials is red pepperoni pizza.
More than a third of millennials, or 34 percent, said they would like to try red pepperons pizza at least once a week.
Another third of them (31 percent) said they have at least one red pepperon pizza that they will eat on occasion.
Among older adults, 28 percent said they will try red peppers pizza at some point in the future.
Overall, only 13 percent of millennials and 16 percent of older adults said they prefer to eat at home over pizza.
